<b>Before you start</b>

<ul><li>Identify the type of light bulbs you are planning to use (Examples: Incandescent, Halogen, LED, etc.)</li><li>Identify the model number of the dimmer you want to use or already have (Model number can normally be found on the side of the dimmer or on the package it came in)</li></ul>
<b>Note</b>: If you are controlling a light bulb rated for less than 120V verify if an electronic or magnetic transformer is being used. (contact the light fixture manufacture if you are unsure)<br><br><b>If the dimmer is rated to control</b>

<ul><li>Incandescent or Halogen lights only  </li></ul>
<b>Then it can control </b>Only Incandescent or Halogen bulbs can be used. <br><br><b>If the dimmer is rated to control</b>

<ul><li>LED lights</li></ul>
<b>Then it can also control </b>Incandescent or Halogen bulbs.

<ul><li>For LED compatibility, use the <a href='https://www.lutron.com/en-US/Pages/LEDCompatibilityTool/Compatibility.a…; target='_blank'>Lutron LED compatibility tool  </a></li></ul>
<br><b>If the dimmer is rated to control</b>

<ul><li>ELV (Electronic Low Voltage) Lights</li></ul>
<b>Then it can also control</b>

<ul><li>Dimmers rated to control electronic low voltage (ELV) lights can also be used to control incandescent and halogen lights</li><li>Dimmers rated to control ELV lights can also be used to control some LED&#39;s.
<ul><li>For LED compatibility use our LED compatibility tool by <a href='https://www.lutron.com/en-US/Pages/LEDCompatibilityTool/Compatibility.a…; target='_blank'>clicking here</a> .</li><li><b>Note:</b> ELV dimmers will require a Neutral connection within the wallbox location. Please see picture of neutral bundle below for reference. If there is no neutral connection then you would not be able to install the ELV dimmer in this location.</li></ul>
