<h2><strong>Controlling Outlets or Receptacles with Caseta</strong></h2>
<p><span style='font-size: 16px;'>There are times where you will want to control devices using an outlet or receptacle with your Caseta system. There are specific ways to do this using our Caseta equipment that we will cover in this article.</span></p>
<p><span style='font-size: 16px;'><strong>Note</strong>: Our in-wall dimmers and switches are <strong>not</strong> rated to be wired to a <strong>standard </strong>outlet/receptacle. Doing so risks damage to the in-wall device, outlet/receptacle, or device connected to the outlet/receptacle.</span></p>

<h3><span style='font-size: 18px;'><strong>Controlling a Plug-in light</strong></span></h3>
<p><span style='font-size: 16px;'>To control or dim a light or lamp that needs to plug into an outlet, there are two main options in <strong>p</strong><strong>lug-in devices</strong>:</span></p>
<p><span style='font-size: 16px;'><strong>Model numbers</strong>: </span></p>
<ul><li style='font-size: 16px;'><a href='https://assets.lutron.com/a/documents/quickstartcasetalampdimmerengspa…; target='_blank'><span style='font-size: 16px;'><strong>PD-3PCL</strong></span></a>
<ul><li style='font-size: 16px;'><span style='font-size: 16px;'>This is a plug-in <strong>Dimmer</strong>. This will allow you to dim the light or lamp.</span></li></ul>
</li><li style='font-size: 16px;'><a href='https://assets.lutron.com/a/documents/0301978-03.pdf' target='_blank'><span style='font-size: 16px;'><strong>PD-15OUT-BL</strong></span></a>
<ul><li style='font-size: 16px;'><span style='font-size: 16px;'>This is a plug-in <strong>Switch</strong>. This will allow you to turn the light on or off only; No dimming.</span></li></ul>
</li></ul>
<p><span style='font-size: 16px;'><strong>Actions to take</strong>:</span></p>
<ol><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>Ensure any <strong>switches</strong> that are controlling the outlet/receptacle are <strong>disconnected</strong>.</span></li><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>We will want to ensure the outlet/receptacle are <strong>constantly powered</strong>.</span><span style='font-size: 16px;'></span>
<ul><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>The reason for this is to ensure the <strong>p</strong><b>lug-in device</b> is always receiving power, since it will be <strong>controlling </strong>the power to the lights.</span></li><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>If a <strong>control </strong>is needed to replace the switch, you may use a <strong>Pico Remote</strong> and the <a href='https://assets.lutron.com/a/documents/wallboxadapterinstallationinstruc…; target='_blank'><strong>Wallplate Adapter</strong></a> to replace it.</span></li></ul>
</li><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>Plug in one of the two <strong>p</strong><strong>lug-in devices</strong> above to control your light.</span></li><li><span style='font-size: 16px;'>Finally, you may pair the <strong>Pico Remote</strong> to the <strong>p</strong><strong>lug-in device</strong>, or you can pair both to the <strong>Lutron App</strong> using a <strong>Caseta Smart Hub</strong>.</span></li></ol>
